Collection 2000 Angelic Eye Palette

Saturday, 19 November 2011

What with the new(ish) Collection 2000 ad campaign featuring Diana Vickers being everywhere at the moment, I thought I'd review one of their palettes: Angelic.

Angelic has quite a range of colours ('nine muted shades for your day-to-day needs'), including shades of blue, purple, green, and pink, as well as more earthy bronze shades, so hopefully you'd find something you'd like.

I'm not sure who decided bright blue was 'muted', but the eyeshadows are nicely packaged and set out in rows of three with a little double-ended brush to apply them with.

As you can see from the swatches, the colours are very sheer when you first apply them (apart from the two metallics at the end), although it's easy to build them up with as much or as little colour as you'd like.

The only problem I have with these eyeshadows is the texture, which I can only describe as... crumbly. Even as I tried to apply the eyeshadow it flaked and I got little particles of glitter on my cheeks. I suppose you could solve this problem by using primer, but I don't know if I could be bothered with that every day.

Not that I'd use this as part of my everyday routine  despite how Collection 2000 advertise this, I'm more likely to use the palette when I go out at night. I'd probably apply the eyeshadow with a damp brush to create a liquid liner, or blend it with kohl pencil.

Overall I'd say this is a fun way of creating a colourful eye, and the price is reasonable considering you get nine eyeshadows for £4.19, but I won't be repurchasing.
