Clinique Chubby Sticks in Pudgy Peony, Two Ton Tomato and Voluptuous Violet

Friday, 24 January 2014

I've wanted to try Clinique's Chubby Sticks for ages now so I was very happy when I received the Whole Lotta Candy gift set as a Christmas present from my nan  she has excellent taste in make-up.

A Whole Lotta Candy is a mini collection of three of Clinique's Chubby Sticks in the shades Pudgy Peony, Two Ton Tomato and Voluptuous Violet. I've read so many positive reviews about these and they were well worth the wait.

The Chubby Sticks provide a sheer wash of colour  pigmented enough to make your lips noticeable but in a soft and pretty way. They're a great way to ease yourself into wearing colour on your lips  bright shades such as the hot pink of Pudgy Peony, the red of Two Ton Tomato and the pink/plum of Voluptuous Violet become a lot more wearable. They deliver a nice hit of moisture too, removing the need to carry an additional lip balm in your bag.

The one thing I would say is that because of the balm consistency these need to be reapplied after eating and drinking. However, I usually do this whatever lip colour I'm wearing so I don't see this as a problem. I'm kicking myself for not trying Chubby Sticks sooner  they're a wonderful lipstick/lip balm hybrid and have made it on to my Holy Grail list.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm is available from Clinique Counters and online here.

GOSH Growth Mascara

Monday, 20 January 2014

I've always been a fan of lengthening mascaras. Ever since I first started wearing make-up I've been in search of a product that gives the illusion of Bambi-style lashes but doesn't break the bank. I've found some pretty nice mascaras over the years but I've never actually loved one enough to repurchase it.

However, I started using GOSH's Growth Mascara at the end of last year and I'll be buying it again for sure. The formula glides on easily and the brush is the perfect size and shape to wiggle through every lash. One coat is perfect for daytime and two coats creates a false lash look without clumping or being over the top.

While I haven't noticed much difference in the length of my lashes they do seem to look fuller and they fall out less when I remove my make-up at night. The mascara also has really good lasting power, and doesn't smudge easily. There are few things more annoying than coming home at the end of the day and finding that you've got panda eyes! First the CC Cream, and now this  I'm happy to say that I've found another winner from GOSH.

GOSH Growth Mascara is available from Superdrug and costs £8.49. It is currently on offer for £6.49.
