The Skincare Series: Current Routine (Morning)

Wednesday, 18 June 2014

I am not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination so I like to keep things simple: cleanse, tone, moisturise, done.

Morning Skincare Routine

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (£14 for 100ml)

Cleanse & Polish is basically my skin's best friend, no other cleansers I've tried match up to it (although Aromatherapy Associates' Renewing Rose Cleanser isn't too far behind).

It's soft and nourishing and always leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped.

I find most face scrubs too harsh and I'm wary of trying chemical exfoliators, so the gentle daily exfoliation provided by the muslin cloth helps to get rid of dead skin cells.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner (£8 for 200ml)

I had been using the Liz Earle Skin Boost Tonic but it runs out really quickly. Luckily, I had a bottle of this stashed away and it's proved to be just as good at getting rid of any residue.

It's calming on the skin too and it does provide hydration. I'm not particularly loyal to any one toner though, so feel free comment with your recommendations below!

Yes To Grapefruit Dark Circle Correcting Eye Cream (£12.99 for 15ml)

A new buy. So far it's made the skin round my eye area feel firmer, and the grapefruit scent is really refreshing, but it's too soon to say whether it really does reduce dark circles! Expect a full review after a month or so.

Superfacialist by Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream SPF15 (£12.99 for 75ml)

After being wowed by the clay mask and the pre-cleanse oil I decided to try another product and as I needed a new moisturiser I picked this one.

It's designed for dry and sensitive skin and you can tell  it's super hydrating and very gentle. There's no greasiness, although I have noticed that it makes my face a little bit shiny at first. Apparently this is common with products containing SPF, and it does disappear after a little while.

So that's it for the morning. What products do you like to use? Do you have any recommendations?
