#GetYourCurlsOut with Umberto Giannini

Umberto Giannini Curl Friends

My hair is a bit of  a contradiction: fine but wavy (with the odd most-definitely curly section thrown in), it hangs somewhere between straight and not. Products designed for curly hair are usually too heavy for me, but products made for fine hair don't always calm the frizz I'm prone to getting. This means I'm often in a bit of a hair dilemma, with no idea what to use.

Even though I've just got into a new haircare routine, I couldn't resist trying out the Umberto Giannini Curl Friends range. Now I'm growing out my hair, I'm straightening it less (a word of warning: a lob looks lush but is surprisingly hard work when you don't have sleek hair to start with) and I want to start embracing its natural texture again  the Curl Friends range seemed like the perfect way to do that.

Pure Curls Detangling Shampoo*
It's difficult to get the right amount of shampoo out of the bottle because there's no pump or anything  I poured out way too much the first time I used this. It did leave my hair very silky, but I had to leave less time between washes, and because it contains SLS it makes my scalp itch. This might work for someone with thicker hair, but it's not right for me.

Smooth Curls Intensive Conditioner*
The conditioner is very, very thick, so I only used a tiny bit, but I really like it. It's excellent for detangling the hair, and my ends felt so soft, without being weighed down or limp. This is going to last me a long time (one bottle works out as being very good value) and I'll be buying it when it runs out.

Natural Curls Styling Cream*
You can use this with or without heat styling, so I opted for the latter because the less effort I have to make with my hair, the better, frankly. The cream is lovely and smooth, and gave my waves some undone definition, if that makes sense? My hair was less frizzy than usual, but not uber-styled. I later tried the styling cream in conjunction with my hair dryer (the instructions say to use your diffuser but mine broke, so I raked through my hair with clean fingers instead) and it produced the same undone look, albeit with a little more gloss. Definitely my favourite product of the bunch.

Skinny Curls Slimming Cream*
A light, non-sticky cream designed to relax your curls and either create more of a wavy effect, or make your hair sleek and straight (with help from a hair dryer). I used it to blow dry my hair straight, and it didn't make much of a difference, but to be honest I think that's more because of my blow-drying skills (or lack thereof). Used with straighteners, however, and it really comes into its own, leaving hair silky and shiny, but not lank and separated. I'll use this when I want my hair to have a bit more polish.
